An AI-native platform for forest carbon.
The goal is to bring small and mid-size landowners, including indigenous communities and community forestry cooperatives, into a carbon market they are currently locked out of, while delivering the integrity that corporate and compliance buyers now require.
WHAT WE’RE BUILDING
Three layers, one workflow.
CTP is a three-layer system. The bottom layer is an AI-native dMRV (digital measurement, reporting, and verification) pipeline that combines satellite analysis with cryptographically-attested ground-truth observations and foundation-model reasoning. The middle layer is an on-chain registry that issues tokenised carbon credits whose full evidence chain is publicly queryable. The top layer is Arboreum, the protocol’s claim token, fully reserved against verified standing carbon and redeemable for retired credits at a transparent peg.
The white paper describes the system in detail, including the methodology strategy (anchored to Verra VM0048, Plan Vivo, and ART/TREES rather than inventing new ones), the tokenomics, the verification network design, and the three-phase roadmap from prototype to first credit issued.
WHO’S BEHIND IT

The Carbon Token Project was originally drafted in 2021. The 2021 version was not built. The underlying insight (a standing tree is worth more dead than alive, and the financial system needs to change that) has only become more urgent since.
The 2026 reboot is a fresh attempt with a more mature market, more capable technology, and a more honest accounting of what works and what does not. It is being built as an open source project.

PROJECT STATUS
Solo-founded. Open to contributors.
As of May 2026, the project is solo-founded. The white paper is published. The prototype is in scoping. The first founding-team and advisor conversations are open. There is no current fundraising round; conversations with mission-aligned early backers are welcome. The codebase, methodology specs, and protocol governance will all be developed in public.
